Priyanka to reveal difference between Hollywood and Bollywood!
International diva Priyanka Chopra was in Toronto lately for the world premiere of her Sikkimese film Pahuna: The Little Visitors at TIFF 2017.
The actress is yet to sign on the dotted line when it comes to a Bollywood project but back in Hollywood, the actress is a part of two flicks – A Kid Like Jake and Isn’t It Romantic? along with Quantico’s Season 3.
In an interview with a famous entertainment portal, when questioned about what was the one thing she could do in Hollywood that she can’t do in Bollywood, Priyanka disclosed, “Nothing! At all, actually. The only thing that I think I get as an advantage in America vis-à-vis India is…for example, A Kid Like Jake. The movie that I’m doing…the lead cast is Claire Danes and Jim Parsons. But, it’s such an incredible story. It’s based on a play, it’s a first time director. It’s about a 4-year-old child who has a gender crisis and the parents don’t know how to deal with it. He wants to be Rapunzel instead of Spider-Man. How the school reacts and I’m the neighbour whose son doesn’t have gender issues and they are friends. You have people like Octavia Spencer. You have such incredible actors who have come together just to do 4 or 6 scenes. That’s the only thing that I miss in India.”
The actress continued, “I was trying to…I was being Utopian again and my mother shot me down. I was trying to cast this movie which is a small, again a kids film where I wanted a big time female actor to come and do 6 scenes. I’ve done Kaminey where I was in 8 scenes. I’ve done Bajirao Mastani where I’m a supporting part, I’ve done Barfi where I’m not the main lead but I think differently maybe. And my mother said ‘the entourage of the actor would cost more than the budget of the film,’ which is probably true. (laughs) I was shot down. My idea was to get a really big actor to just support a film on an issue with children and stray dogs. Anyways, I’ll probably end up doing it myself at some point. But, I can’t do everything na.”
“I feel like that’s the only thing. To have actors…like a huge male actor support a female part or a female film. Just look at the fact that you are supporting a female led movie. That’s the only thing I miss. I see a lot of actors doing it now and having those conversations so I hope that does happen in India but I noticed it here and I was just upset that I couldn’t do it with my film,” Priyanka ended conversation.
