Vegetable Manchurian is an Easy Chinese Recipe for people who like Indo-Chinese food. Vegetable Manchurian is an Indo-Chinese food. It is an interesting dish made of mixed vegetable steamed formed into dumplings deep fried and cooked in a tangy sauce. It uses very simple ingredients, does involve a bit of chopping and preparation but the final dish is well worth the effort! This vegetarian Manchurian is one of the best examples of fusion food. There are two versions of Vegetable Manchurian, wet and dry. Made with generous amount of garlic and ginger, flavored with soy sauce and vinegar, the wet Vegetable Manchurian (with gravy) complements Roti’s and is best when drizzled on a serving of steaming hot rice, fried rice or noodles.

Manchurian is generally eaten as an evening snack, appetizer accompanied with noodles. It is best when served hot. The flavors and ingredients used are unique and exotic to taste!

Veg Manchurian Recipe:

Ingredients:

For The Vegetable Balls

½ cup finely chopped cauliflower

½ cup finely chopped capsicum

½ cup finely chopped cabbage

½ cup finely chopped beans

½ cup finely chopped carrots

½ cup finely chopped whites spring onions

2 tbsp all-purpose flour (maida)

1-2 tbsp corn flour

1 tbsp finely crushed garlic (lehsun) and ginger (adrak) paste

1 tbsp soy sauce

Salt and to taste

¼ tbsp Pepper (Kaali Mirch)

Oil for deep-frying

For The Sauce

¼ cup finely chopped spring onion

½ cup finely chopped spring onion leaves

1 tbsp finely chopped garlic (lehsun)

2 tsp finely chopped ginger (adrak)

1 tbsp soy sauce

½ tbsp green chillies paste

2 tbsp vinegar

2 tbsp tomato sauce

salt to taste

1 tbsp corn flour mixed with 3 tbsp of water

1 tbsp brown sugar or simple sugar

 

Method:

  1. Take all vegetables (cauliflower, capsicum, cabbage, beans, carrots, whites spring onions) in a strainer
  2. All vegetables wash properly
  3. All vegetables put in a cooker
  4. All vegetables boil in a cup of water
  5. All vegetables take in a strainer to remove excess water
  6. All vegetables take in a big bowl
  7. Now add 2 tbsp all-purpose flour in mixture
  8. Now add 1-2 tbsp corn flour in mixture
  9. Now add 1 tbsp finely crushed garlic and ginger in mixture
  10. Now add salt as per taste in mixture
  11. Now add ¼ tbsp Black Pepper in mixture
  12. Now add 1 tbsp soy sauce in mixture
  13. Now mix well all ingredients in the mixture
  14. Now make small vegetable balls from the mixture
  15. Now small vegetable balls are ready to fry
  16. Now put kadai on gas and put on the gas
  17. Now take edible oil in kadai to sufficient to dip balls
  18. Now wait till heating the oil properly
  19. Now dip all balls in heated oil one by one
  20. Now wait till getting all balls brownish in colour
  21. Now put all fried balls on tissue paper to absorb excess oil
  22. Now fried vegetable balls are ready to put in sauce
  23. Now take oil in a frying pan to make sauce
  24. Now add 1 tbsp finely chopped garlic in heated oil
  25. Now add 2 tsp finely chopped ginger in mixture
  26. Now mix well the mixture and wait till get brown colour
  27. Now add ¼ cup finely chopped spring onion in mixture
  28. Now add ½ cup finely chopped spring onion green leaves in mixture
  29. Now add 1 tbsp soy sauce in mixture
  30. Now mix and fry well the mixture
  31. Now add ½ tbsp green chillies paste in mixture
  32. Now add 2 tbsp vinegar in mixture
  33. Now add 4 tbsp corn-water mixture in the mixture
  34. Now add 1 tbsp brown sugar or simple sugar in the mixture
  35. Now mix and fry well the mixture
  36. Now add 2 tbsp tomato sauce in the mixture
  37. Now add salt as per need in the mixture
  38. Now mix and fry well the mixture
  39. Now mix all vegetable balls in the cooked sauce
  40. Now Veg Manchurian put in a bowl
  41. Now sprinkle chopped onion green leaves on Veg Manchurian
  42. Now hot and tasty Veg Manchurian is ready to eat
